Welcome to Deming, NM!
Florida Mountians

Our claims to fame include blue skies, good water and fast ducks! And, more importantly, the truly friendly people who live and work in Deming, and Luna County.

Here, the sky seems to go on forever, ringed by rugged mountains, and accented with gorgeous sunsets and hawks soaring over an expansive desert landscape.

Great American Duck Race

Located along Interstate-10, Deming offers a variety of small town amenities -- local shops of all sorts including antique and art galleries, many restaurants, and a number of RV parks and motels. There is also the Mimbres Memorial Hospital that has a state-of -the-art emergency room.

Be sure to schedule enough time to visit the world-famous Deming-Luna County Museum. The large collection includes a display of unique pottery from the ancient Mimbres Indian Culture.

Throughout the year there are many community events, rodeos, festivals, concerts and, of course, the fun-filled Great American Duck Races. The award-winning Becket Senior Citizens Center offers many activities for older folks.

Need more exercise? Stay awhile and explore Rockhound State Park and Spring Canyon, or go looking for petroglyphs in the foothills of Cooks Peak. Or maybe climb Cooks Peak. It's only 8,000 ft. above sea level! (Deming is at 4331 feet.)

Sixty miles north is the Gila National Forest, offering 3 million acres to explore.

In Deming, the Rio Mimbres Golf Course will challenge you, and provide a good walk if you leave the cart back at the pro shop.

About half an hour south of Deming is the village of Columbus, NM, where Pancho Villa and his band of 1000 raiders attacked the U.S.A. in 1916. Here you will find Pancho Villa State Park that has an RV park and new museum. Columbus has its own museum as well, and check to see if tickets are available for the latest production by this community's seasoned dinner theater group.

Great American Duck Race

Three miles south of Columbus is Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico, a border town that offers dining, complete with Mariachi music, and lots of shopping.

The Deming Chamber of Commerce and its Tourism Development Committee offer a warm welcome and encourage you to stay awhile to see and do things that you'll talk about for a lifetime. Oh, and be sure to bring your camera!
